Backpacks for Teens on the Back of the Track

Mid-summer, we learned of a need for school supplies and backpacks for the children of the “back of the track” workers at Philadelphia Park (PARX Race Track). Rev. Rick Bunker was able to provide us with specific needs for these middle and high school students.

On Sunday August 14th, the Mission Board served a light lunch for the helpers who then packed 26 backpacks with ALL the supplies and calculators the students will need. Because our congregation was so responsive to this project, we have four boxes of extra supplies the students will be able to use throughout the school year.

Additionally, Staples donated eight boxes of starter school kits to be included in the back-packs. Because Staples was so generous, Carol Claypoole will also be able to give these kits out to Food Cupboard families. We are so grateful to the members of the church who were so generous in providing the supplies most needed by the students.
